the REAL deal, (things that don't reflect positively on the woman I am)

So this is the real Heather. I am NOT organized, I have 3 junk drawers that are atrocious, EVERY time I cook, I make a huge mess. My closets look like this although not quite as bad in some places. This is an ART closet off of the kitchen that my kids LOVE! At times it has looked pretty good, definitely not THIS bad! I attribute the messy, unorganized closet in this photo to my four SWEET children. If I were just taking care of Kel and I, I would be all over organized closets. There in almost nothing better than a clean house and organization to me. I used to have an immaculate house when Kel and I were newly weds and up until 2 children. But now I feel like a sinking ship and I'm hardly doggy paddling! But by posting this monstrosity of a closet (something that Kelly HATES!), I am putting it out there for all of your horrified eyes to see hoping that this will get me to organize it and make it beautiful! So, I'm off to IKEA to find some affordable containers to make this closet easily accessible. Wish me luck and I will post results soon! *****The messy cooking thing won't be easy since it's genetic. Thanks mom!

Ry (and my mom) think I'm the messiest cook ever. I've almost been banned from the whole cooking thing because of it. Maybe we should have a contest some day. I already know hands down you would beat me out for cooking, but messes....that's right up my alley :) Love the fact you are keeping it real.

Bet you don't have a closet you have to stick your arm in and hold things in place till the very last second before withdrawing and then hurriedly turning around and slamming it shut full-force with the strength of your quads, using your bum as the final thrust... yep, I've got one of those!!! I do make up for that closet as I consistently clean up after myself throughout the whole cooking process--now THAT bugs people in my house!

I am so glad to see some else has closets like mine! We are not superwomen, we are just women, and that's ok. I feel the same as you about the house. I'm on a sinking ship and the only thing I can do is hold on as it goes down! Since we got here, my boys have had a strange aversion to the hamper AND their dresser! Everything is strewn everywhere, clean and dirty colliding. Harrison has come up with yesterday's shirt on so many times I want to scream and burn down their room! I have stopped going down there just to avoid doing something rash! Every time I get the urge to go do something about it, my fussy baby needs me. She drains every ounce of umpf I have. Oh well. There will be plenty of time for organization when the children are grown, right??!! I am also a messy cook. AND, I'm usually too exhausted by the time dinner is over to clean up after myself, so it sits til morning. I am messy, unorganized AND lazy. BEAT THAT!!!

I can't wait to see the "new and improved" art closet! Alicia's comment is hysterical!!! I'm not sure I have one of those kinds of closets, but Jon has been asking me for a couple of months to clean out the pantry. I keep telling him, he's the cook and so therefore HE should clean out the pantry!!! =)

Love it Heather. I'm sure it will look fabulous once you get done with it. Nikki-I feel your pain. I'm not super organized by any matter, but I have found that it gets a little easier as the kids get older to get a grip on my housekeeping and organization.I've still got a long way to go though. It will come, just hold on and enjoy the wild ride!! ♥

Heather, as long as there are children in the house, it is a losing battle, I am sorry to say. Your cute IKEA containers will last just a week or two and it will be back to the way it was--just embrace it and love the joy that your kids get from all the creative juices flowing in your house. Steve and I keep telling ourselves that "someday", but then we realize that we'll have grandkids making the same messes that our children have made. I can't wait!
